Robert HP Platz is a German classical composer and conductor, born on August 16, 1951, in Baden-Baden. He studied music theory, composition, musicology, and piano in Freiburg im Breisgau from 1970 to 1973, working with notable figures like Wolfgang Fortner. Platz later studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen in Cologne, furthering his compositional skills. In addition to his work as a composer, Platz has been a conductor for numerous ensembles and orchestras, including Ensemble Modern and the WDR Radio Orchestra. He has premiered over 300 works and has taught composition at the Maastricht Academy of Music since 1990.
