Diane Loomer was a celebrated Canadian choral conductor and a pioneering figure in the world of choral music. She co-founded two renowned choirs: the Vancouver Chamber Choir and, later, Chor Leoni Men's Choir—one of Canada’s premier male voice ensembles. She also founded Elektra Women's Choir in 1987, which gained international acclaim for its vibrant repertoire and artistic excellence. With a passion for expanding the choral landscape, Diane was known for championing new music and nurturing composers, while also fostering community-building through singing.
Her work earned numerous honors, including the Order of Canada, recognizing her outstanding contributions to Canadian music and culture. Diane's leadership and dedication to vocal music left a lasting legacy, influencing generations of singers and conductors alike. She passed away in 2012, but her vibrant spirit continues to resonate through the choirs and voices she inspired.
