Guillaume Bourgogne

Guillaume Bourgogne is a renowned French conductor, particularly active in the realm of contemporary music. He has been the musical director of the ensemble Cairn since 2002, alongside artistic director Jérôme Combier. Bourgogne studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he won several first prizes, including one in orchestral conducting under Janos Fürst. He has also led the Camerata Aberta in São Paulo, Brazil, from 2010 to 2018, and founded the ensemble Op.Cit in Lyon. Bourgogne has conducted numerous orchestras worldwide, including the Orchestre philharmonique de Nice and the Orchestre national de Lille, and has participated in major festivals like the Tongyeong International Music Festival in South Korea.

Bourgogne has been involved in various educational roles, including being a professor at the Haute école de musique Vaud Valais Fribourg (HEMU) in Lausanne since 2022, where he also serves as the artistic and musical director of the Ensemble contemporain de l'HEMU. Previously, he was a professor and artistic director of the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. His recent work includes directing the premiere of Philippe Leroux's opera *L’Annonce faite à Marie* in 2022, which received the Grand Prix du Syndicat Français de la Critique in 2023.
