IOTUNN

Iotunn, an ambitious metal band hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, has carved a distinct niche in the progressive metal scene with their combination of atmospheric melodies, vigorous riffs, and intricate storytelling. Named after the Old Norse word for "giant," Iotunn channels the vastness and mystery inherent in their moniker into their musical compositions. The band, with members Jens Nicolai Gräs (guitar), Jesper Gräs (guitar), Eskil Rask (bass), Bjørn Wind Andersen (drums), and Jón Aldará (vocals), was formed in 2015, initially emerging from the remnants of a previous project.

Iotunn's discography showcases a journey that weaves through epic soundscapes and audacious lyricism. After some initial singles that helped them gain momentum in the metal community, the band released their critically acclaimed debut full-length album, "Access All Worlds," in 2021. This album was a turning point, as it brought their expansive, genre-blending vision to the fore, receiving praise for both its conceptual depth and its musical ambition. Notable tracks such as "Voyage of the Garganey I," "Access All Worlds," "The Tower of Cosmic Nihility," and "The Wizard Falls" underscore their capacity to merge visceral energy with cinematic scope. The band also demonstrated their versatility with "Access All Worlds - an Acoustic Voyage," reimagining their own complex soundscapes in a more stripped-down acoustic format. The song "Mistland" further secures their reputation as crafters of immersive, lyrical epics. With every release, Iotunn invites listeners to embark on an odyssey, a testament to the band's growing prowess and imaginative power in the metal realm.
