**Tamar Sagiv** is a New York-based cellist celebrated for her distinctive, deep sound and creative artistry. Born in northern Israel in 1994, she began cello studies at age 8 and quickly established herself as a prodigious talent, performing as a soloist in Israel and Germany during her teens and receiving a Certificate of Honor from maestro Zubin Mehta. Tamar studied at the Buchmann Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv before pursuing a Master’s degree at Mannes School of Music in NYC. She has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Alice Tully Hall and has been featured on Israeli National Radio since she was 16.
Tamar is also a composer and improviser, blending baroque repertoire like Bach with contemporary works in her concerts and recordings. Her debut album, *Shades of Mourning* (2025), showcases both her virtuosic playing and compositional voice. She actively collaborates in chamber music settings and hosts intimate solo performances, such as those held in inspiring venues like the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Known for exploring the cello’s versatility beyond traditional classical contexts, Tamar is recognized as a powerful new voice in the contemporary cello scene.
