The Skull

The Skull is a doom metal band that rose from the ashes of the iconic group Trouble, one of the pioneers of the genre in the 1980s. Formed in 2012, the band continues the musical legacy of Trouble, while carving its own path in the doom metal scene. The core lineup features former Trouble members including vocalist Eric Wagner and drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson, which lends the group an authenticity and continuation of the deep, heavy riffs and melancholic tones associated with their forerunners. The Skull's music is characterized by its ponderous tempos, thick guitar melodies, and Wagner's distinctive vocal style that hearkens back to the classic days of doom metal but with a contemporary edge.

Their releases, including "The Endless Road Turns Dark" and "For Those Which Are Asleep", have been well-received by both fans of the genre and critics alike, highlighting the band's ability to maintain the spirit of classic doom while addressing contemporary themes and sounds. The songs "Ravenswood" and "A New Generation" showcase the band's exploration of somber themes and their penchant for crafting enduring metal anthems. While drawing heavily from their Trouble heritage, The Skull has proven its ability to stand as a formidable entity on its own, contributing significant work to the doom metal genre and continuing to captivate audiences with their powerful, brooding music.
