Pekkanini

Pekkanini, born Pekka Lunde on July 2, 1952, in Uppsala, Sweden, was a renowned composer and musician known for his mastery of the theremin. He co-founded the rock group Ensamma Hjärtan and later formed the duo Danielsson & Pekkanini, achieving radio hits in the 1980s. Pekkanini released several solo albums, including "Pekkanini" (1982) and "Spotlight" (1986), and composed music for over 100 Swedish plays. His theremin-focused albums include "Theremin Magic" (2010), "Theremins in the Jukebox" (2011), and "Theremin Tunes Played in Odd Bars" (2013). He also arranged and interpreted the music of Enrico Pasini for the theremin. Pekkanini won the "off the beaten track" category at The People's Music Awards in 2010 and was a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He passed away on June 30, 2021, in Göteborg.

Pekkanini's later works continued to showcase his versatility and creativity, with albums like "Characters of a Dream Play" (2019), which drew inspiration from Strindberg's "A Dream Play," and "Once Upon a Time in My Town" (2020). His music often blended elements of the past with modern production sensibilities, creating a unique sound that resonated with audiences. Throughout his career, Pekkanini collaborated with musicians from various countries, leaving behind a legacy of innovative and captivating music.
