Martika is a singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1980s with her hit single "Toy Soldiers." Born Marta Marrero in Whittier, California, she began singing at a young age and was discovered by Prince in the early 1980s. After signing with Prince's Paisley Park Records, she released her debut album, "Martika," in 1988. The album featured the hit singles "Toy Soldiers" and "More Than You Know," which both reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Martika has continued to release music throughout her career, including her most recent album, "Flow With the Go," in 2020.
