Die Knödel is an Austrian band known for their unique blend of traditional folk music with modern elements. Formed in 1992 by Christof Dienz, the group originally operated until 2000. During their initial run, they released several notable albums, including "Verkochte Tiroler," "Die Noodle," "Panorama," and "Non Lo So, Polo," the latter being a collaboration with Amy Denio inspired by Marco Polo's travels. The band's sound incorporates a variety of instruments such as the bassoon, harp, and trumpet, creating a distinctive post-modern folk style. After a 17-year hiatus, Die Knödel reunited in 2018 and have since continued to produce music, including the album "Still" in 2019 and "Wunderrad" in 2023.
Their music often explores themes related to their Tyrolean heritage, while also experimenting with contemporary musical influences. The band's revival has seen them perform at various festivals and events, including the Glatt & Verkehrt festival in Krems. With their eclectic mix of traditional and modern sounds, Die Knödel has contributed significantly to the evolution of Austrian folk music.
