Claude Vivier (1948–1983) was a Canadian composer whose innovative and emotionally compelling work positioned him as a visionary in the realm of contemporary classical music. Born in Montréal, Vivier embarked on a journey that led him to study at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal before heading to Europe to further his studies under the guidance of iconic composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen.
