Giovanni Punzi is a highly acclaimed clarinetist born in Salerno, Italy, in 1989. He has established himself as one of the most distinguished European clarinet players of his generation. Punzi began his career with a remarkable debut as a soloist at the age of 14 with the Bulgarian National Orchestra. He has performed in major concert halls across Europe, the USA, South America, Mexico, Russia, and China. His educational background includes studies with notable instructors such as Calogero Palermo and Alessandro Carbonare at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Philippe Berrod at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris, and John Kruse at the Royal Danish Academy.
Punzi has held principal clarinet positions in several orchestras, including the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne. He has also been a solo clarinetist with the Orchestra "I Pomeriggi musicali" in Milan and has performed with prominent youth orchestras under renowned conductors. His recent releases showcase his versatility in classical music, featuring works by Mozart, Brahms, and Schumann, among others. Punzi is also the Artistic Director of the Mediterranean Clarinet Academy and has been recognized with numerous awards in international clarinet competitions.
