Stefan Neubauer

Stefan Neubauer is a renowned Austrian clarinetist born in 1971 in Upper Austria. He began his musical journey at the Eferding Music School under Heinz Paschinger and later studied at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and the Vienna Music Academy (now the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna), where he graduated with distinction. Neubauer has had a distinguished career as an orchestral musician, notably as a clarinetist at the Vienna State Opera since 2000. He has also performed with prestigious ensembles like the Vienna Philharmonic and the Camerata Salzburg. His interest in contemporary music is evident through his involvement with groups such as the Ensemble Wiener Collage and Klangforum Wien. Neubauer has released several albums, including "Solitary Changes," which won the Ö1 Pasticcio Prize. His teaching engagements include a position at the Leonard Bernstein Institute in Vienna.

In addition to his classical work, Neubauer explores diverse musical genres, including traditional Viennese music with the Philharmonia Schrammeln Wien. His recent releases reflect his versatility, with works like "Viennese Transfigurations" and "Solitary Changes 2." Neubauer's passion for music extends beyond performance to education, as he regularly conducts masterclasses for institutions like the TOHO Academy in Japan. His personal life is marked by a love for collecting clarinet scores and photography, and he resides in Lower Austria with his family.
