Almyrkvi

Almyrkvi is an atmospheric black metal project hailing from Iceland, esteemed for its immersive soundscapes and profound depths of dark ambiance. The brainchild of musician Garðar S. Jónsson, also known for his work with the band Sinmara, Almyrkvi first pierced the veil of the metal scene with its debut EP, 'Pupil of the Searing Maelstrom', released in 2016. This offering was marked by its blend of oppressive guitar riffs, cavernous vocals, and layered atmospheric elements, establishing Almyrkvi as a unique voice within the realm of black metal.

Following the success of their EP, Almyrkvi expanded their cosmic-themed aural exploration with the full-length album 'Umbra', released in 2017. 'Umbra' further witnessed Almyrkvi's commitment to crafting dense and otherworldly metal compositions, drawing listeners into a voyage through the darkest corners of the universe. The band's most recent collaborative work, the split with The Ruins of Beverast released in 2020, showcased Almyrkvi's continued evolution and their penchant for creating deeply evocative music that straddles the line between the terrestrial and the ethereal, positioning them as one of the intriguing acts within Iceland's flourishing black metal scene.
