Valeri Dimchev

Valeri Dimchev is a renowned Bulgarian composer, educator, and virtuoso of the tambura, a traditional stringed instrument. Born in Blagoevgrad, in the Pirin region of Southern Bulgaria, Dimchev developed his musical skills at the Folk Music School in Shiroka Luka and furthered his education at the Music Academy in Plovdiv. His music reflects a deep connection to Bulgarian folk melodies, while also pushing the boundaries of the tambura through contemporary techniques, improvisation, and harmonization. Some of his notable works include "The Bulgarian Tamboura," "Sooner… Later…," and "Joy as a Teardrop," showcasing his versatility and dedication to preserving and innovating traditional Bulgarian music.
