Welsh National Opera Chorus

The Welsh National Opera Chorus is the powerhouse vocal ensemble behind Wales' flagship opera company, founded in 1946 and based in Cardiff. Known for their rich, versatile sound, they bring to life everything from Gilbert & Sullivan classics like *The Mikado* and *The Pirates of Penzance* to grand operas like Britten’s *Gloriana* and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s epic *Hiawatha*. Over the decades, they’ve built a reputation for blending dramatic flair with technical precision, often performing in English and other languages while touring internationally. Their recent releases highlight their knack for both crowd-pleasing lighter works and ambitious revivals of lesser-known gems like George Lloyd’s *The Vigil of Venus*. Whether belting out comedic patter songs or soaring through lush Romantic harmonies, this chorus remains a cornerstone of the UK’s operatic scene.
