The Deep Freeze Mice

The Deep Freeze Mice were an English new wave band active from 1979 to 1989, based in Leicester. The core lineup consisted of Alan Jenkins on guitars and vocals, Sherree Lawrence on keyboards, and Mick Bunnage on bass. During their decade-long career, they released ten albums, with Graham Summers and Pete Gregory contributing as drummers at different times. Their music was characterized by quirky, often surreal lyrics and a blend of pop and progressive rock elements, frequently touching on themes like science fiction and animal rights.

The band was deeply involved in the DIY music scene, releasing their music through labels such as Mole Embalming Records and later Cordelia Records, which Alan Jenkins founded. Some of their notable albums include "My Geraniums are Bulletproof," "Teenage Head in My Refrigerator," and the double album "I Love You Little Bo Bo with Your Delicate Golden Lions." After The Deep Freeze Mice disbanded, Jenkins went on to form other bands like Ruth's Refrigerator and The Thurston Lava Tube, while Bunnage led a career outside music, co-founding Loaded magazine.
