Sana Bob, whose real name is Salif Sana, is a Burkinabe Afroreggae artist known for blending traditional Mossi musical styles like Wed Bide with contemporary reggae and blues influences. Born in a small village in Burkina Faso’s Centre Nord region, he grew up in a family of dancers and was deeply influenced by his adoptive mother, a celebrated singer. His music is a unique fusion that incorporates traditional African instruments such as the rudga (traditional violin), kora, and bendré (calabash drum) with modern reggae rhythms, creating a rich, soulful sound that reflects both his cultural roots and modern musical trends. Since his debut in 1997, Sana Bob has released multiple albums and compilations, gaining widespread popularity across Burkina Faso for his Afro-lyrical reggae style infused with ancestral rhythms.
He moved to Côte d'Ivoire in his youth to seek better opportunities and further developed his musical talents through training in music, dance, percussion, and singing. Sana Bob’s work stands out for its respectful nod to traditional African heritage while pushing musical boundaries with contemporary styles, marking him as one of the prominent voices in African reggae music.
