Mohamed Errebbaa is a renowned Moroccan musician and Master in the Gnawa world, born in Rabat. He spent a decade traveling throughout Morocco, studying diverse regional musical traditions under leading musicians. Errebbaa is particularly passionate about the three-stringed Gnawa bass lute, the Guembri. He has collaborated with international artists, blending traditional African music with global sounds. Errebbaa has performed at numerous festivals worldwide, including WOMAD and Bergenfest. His project, Mohamed Errebbaa & Tagna Groove, aims to modernize Gnawa music with UK-based musicians, combining elements of trance, funk, blues, and jazz.
Mohamed Errebbaa is also known for his workshops and masterclasses, where he teaches Gnawa dances and rhythms. He has taught in Morocco, South Korea, and Tunisia before moving to the UK. His music combines elements of Arab and sub-Saharan African music with Sufi mysticism, creating a unique and captivating sound. Errebbaa's recent work includes tracks like "Hali" and "Yomala," showcasing his ability to blend traditional Gnawa music with modern styles.
