Nicolas Bougaïeff is a Quebec-born, Berlin-based musician known for his genre-bending approach to electronic music. He is a classically trained musician who studied electroacoustic composition at the Conservatoire de Montréal and later earned a PhD in minimal techno from the University of Huddersfield. Bougaïeff's music often blends contemporary classical elements with moody techno and ambient textures, creating a unique sound that challenges conventional techno norms. He has released music on notable labels such as NovaMute and Mute, with his full-length album *The Upward Spiral* being a highlight of his discography.
Outside of music production, Bougaïeff co-founded the software company Liine with Richie Hawtin, where he contributed to the development of the MIDI/OSC controller app Lemur. He also founded the Berlin Academy of Electronic Music, showcasing his commitment to both music creation and education.
