Otto Hejnic

Otto Hejnic is a Czech drummer, composer, and bandleader known for his captivating piano trio work and his soulful, dynamic approach to jazz. Leading the Otto Hejnic Trio alongside pianist Ondrej Krajňák and bassist Josef Fečo, Hejnic blends straight-ahead jazz with Latin and European classical influences, crafting varied and emotive compositions. Since the trio’s formation in 2009, they have released multiple albums including *One* (2013) and *This Is How It Is* (2022), earning critical acclaim for their imaginative, maturely crafted music and energetic performances.

In addition to his trio work, Hejnic explores new sonic territories, such as in his recent project called Organism, which features New York-based Hammond organist Brian Charette and infuses soul jazz elements with a fresh vitality. His newest album *Forms of Happiness*, set for release in November 2024, continues to showcase his skillful drumming, compositional talent, and collaborative spirit with internationally renowned musicians. Hejnic is celebrated for his versatility and his ability to lead musicians through complex, heartfelt jazz landscapes while maintaining a distinctively accessible sound.
