Le Orme are Italian prog rock legends who’ve been crafting lush, melodic soundscapes since forming in Venice back in 1966. Known for blending classical influences with psychedelic grooves, the band became pioneers of Italy’s 1970s progressive rock wave alongside acts like PFM. Core members Aldo Tagliapietra (vocals/bass), Michi Dei Rossi (drums), and Antonio Pagliuca (keys) built their reputation on albums like *Felona e Sorona* (1973), a fantasy-themed concept record that remains a genre classic. Decades later, they’re still evolving – their 2016 rework *Felona E/And Sorona 2016* breathes new life into that legacy, while releases like *Il leone e la bandiera* and *Sulle ali di un sogno* show their knack for storytelling through intricate arrangements. Whether revisiting hits on *Il meglio di* collections or collaborating on projects like *Le Orme & Friends*, these veterans keep proving why they’re Italy’s prog ambassadors.
