Alex Wakim

Alex Wakim is a New York-based composer and interdisciplinary artist originally from Wichita, Kansas. He has been passionate about music since a very young age, starting piano lessons at three and eventually developing a strong interest in composition during high school. After graduating from Kansas State University in 2018 with a degree in applied music, Alex has built a versatile career creating music for film, theater, and advertising, blending cinematic and Middle Eastern influences in his work. He’s known for scoring films and commercials, including projects featuring Julianne Moore, and has had his music showcased at prominent festivals like SXSW and Tribeca. Alex’s music often focuses on storytelling, aiming to subtly enhance emotions without overtly drawing attention to itself.

His recent releases highlight a rich cinematic style, featuring tracks such as “Sounds of Claire,” “Orient Palace Hotel,” and original motion picture soundtrack pieces like “To Fade Away” and “Naked Truth.” Alex also co-founded Dekatu Scoring, a boutique advertising music company, where he works collaboratively to create evocative soundtracks. Always exploring new creative directions, he approaches composition as a deeply personal and expressive craft, striving to create music that not only supports but intensifies the narratives it accompanies.
