Matthias Havinga is a renowned Dutch concert organist and pianist, known for his captivating performances across Europe and beyond. Born in 1983, Havinga studied organ at the Amsterdam Conservatory, where he earned a Master of Music degree with honors. He has been awarded several international prizes, including the first prize at the Kotka International Organ Competition in 2009. As a versatile musician, Havinga has worked with prominent ensembles like the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and has founded a duo with recorder player Hester Groenleer, exploring innovative repertoire for their instruments.
Havinga is currently the organist of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam and Professor of Organ at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He has released several albums, including "Passacaglia," "Bach: Italian Concertos," and more recently "Mendelssohn: Organ Music". His international career includes performances at prestigious venues like the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and recent appearances at festivals in Germany and Denmark.
