Kees Van Kooten

Kees van Kooten is a beloved Dutch comedian, actor, and writer, born on August 10, 1941, in The Hague, Netherlands. He is best known as one half of the legendary comedy duo Van Kooten & De Bie, alongside Wim de Bie. Together, they started performing in the early 1960s, initially on radio and later becoming iconic on Dutch television with their weekly sketch show "Het Simplisties Verbond," which ran from 1974 to 1998. Their satire, characterized by clever wordplay and sharp social commentary, earned them widespread popularity and critical acclaim in the Dutch-speaking world, making their characters and phrases part of everyday language. The duo also produced numerous musical singles, books, and theatrical performances during their collaboration.

Apart from his comedic work, Kees van Kooten has authored around 47 books, including novels, poetry, and autobiographical writings, often written with humor and wit.
