Sons of Fathers was an Americana/indie folk rock band formed in San Marcos, Texas, by David Beck and Paul Cauthen. The duo initially called themselves Beck & Cauthen but changed their name to Sons of Fathers after receiving a cease and desist letter from representatives of the musician Beck. Both Beck and Cauthen came from musical backgrounds - Beck's father was a touring musician, while Cauthen grew up singing in church.
The band released two albums produced by Lloyd Maines: their self-titled debut "Sons of Fathers" in 2011 and "Burning Days" in 2013. Their music blended rock and roll with country influences. After five years together, Sons of Fathers broke up in April 2014, with Cauthen citing differing musical focuses as the reason for their split.
