Ed Gein

Ed Gein is an American metalcore band that emerged from the underground music scene in Syracuse, New York. Known for their intense, chaotic musical style and dark subject matter, the group is named after the notorious American murderer and body snatcher, which reflects their fascination with macabre themes. They began to cement their presence in the hardcore punk community in the early 2000s, characterized by their blend of mathcore complexity and the aggressive energy of grindcore.

With significant releases that include "It's a Shame That a Family Can Be Torn Apart by Something as Simple as a Pack of Wild Dogs" (2005), "Judas Goats & Dieseleaters" (2005), "Bad Luck" (2011), and their self-titled EP "S/T CD EP" (2002), Ed Gein has managed to maintain a cult following through the years. Although not frequently in the mainstream spotlight, their musical output stands out for its technical prowess, fierce political and social commentary, and unrelenting, visceral sound that pushes the boundaries of the metalcore genre. Despite lineup changes and periods of inactivity, the devotion and intensity Ed Gein brings to their music keep their fanbase loyal and their status in the hardcore scene respected.
