Ludwig Mittelhammer is a German operatic and concert baritone born in Munich in 1988. He received his early musical training as a boy soprano with the Tölzer Boys Choir before studying voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich from 2009 to 2015. Mittelhammer’s education was enriched by masterclasses with renowned artists such as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Brigitte Fassbaender. Throughout his career, he has earned awards including first prize at the Internationaler Wettbewerb für Liedkunst with pianist Jonathan Ware. He has been a member of the Oper Frankfurt opera studio and later the Staatstheater Nürnberg ensemble. Mittelhammer has performed leading roles in operas like *Rigoletto* and *La Bohème*, and has collaborated with prestigious orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris and the Münchner Rundfunkorchester under notable conductors including Jaap van Zweden and Daniel Harding.
Besides opera, Mittelhammer is highly regarded for his work in concert and recital settings. He has appeared in major venues like London’s Wigmore Hall and the Kölner Philharmonie, offering programs that often include Lieder by Schubert, Medtner, and Wolf—a repertoire captured in his debut solo album released by Berlin Classics. His concert engagements extend to performances of sacred music, including works by Mendelssohn with ensembles such as the RIAS Kammerchor and Kammerakademie Potsdam. Recent collaborations include appearances in Bach’s *Matthew Passion* with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Franz Welser-Möst, and upcoming roles like Papageno in Mozart’s *Magic Flute* with the Cleveland Orchestra. Mittelhammer’s warm, sonorous baritone and versatility have made him a sought-after artist in both opera houses and concert halls internationally.
