Cemal Reşit Rey was a Turkish composer, conductor, and pianist who lived from 1904 to 1985. He's considered one of the pioneers of Western classical music in Turkey and is known for his unique blend of Turkish folk melodies with Western classical forms. Rey's compositions often evoke the beauty and spirit of his homeland, and he's particularly celebrated for his orchestral works, including his "Turkish Folk Dances" and "Symphonic Poem."
