Wolfgang Bock is a German electronic musician who first made waves in the early 1980s with his debut album “Cycles,” released in 1980 and heavily influenced by the Berlin School of electronic music, as well as his mentor Klaus Schulze, who also produced the album. Known for his immersive, atmospheric soundscapes and the use of both traditional and electronic instrumentation—think ethereal synth lines, Mellotron choirs, and real drums—Bock’s initial work established him as a unique voice in prog-electronic circles.
After releasing “Cycles,” Bock further explored electronic styles, notably with his 1982 EP “Helicopter” under the pseudonym Paul Flieger (sometimes cited as Peter Flieger). In the 1990s, he released several albums on the Sky label, and then took a lengthy hiatus, focusing on other passions and traveling. In 2023, he returned with a new studio album, “Mintaka,” reminding fans of his enduring creativity and the timeless appeal of his Berlin School-inspired sound. Wolfgang Bock’s music remains influential for those who appreciate the hypnotic rhythms and cosmic textures pioneered by German electronic music greats.
