Ollie Nightingale

Ollie Nightingale, originally known as Ollie Hoskins, was a soulful singer best known as the lead vocalist of the gospel group the Dixie Nightingales, which later became Ollie & The Nightingales. Starting his career in the mid-1950s, Ollie and the group transitioned from gospel to rhythm and blues, releasing music mainly through Memphis-based labels like Stax Records. He gained some R&B chart success both with the group and as a solo artist, noted for blending styles such as blues, Southern soul, and even disco over his career. After leaving the group around 1970, Ollie Nightingale continued to record singles and later released several albums including *I'll Drink Your Bath Water, Baby* and *At His Best* volumes.

Ollie Nightingale's distinctive voice made him a memorable figure in Memphis soul and blues. He also appeared in the 1993 film *The Firm*, starring Tom Cruise, showing his versatility beyond music. He recorded multiple albums for Ecko Records in his later years, cementing his legacy as a respected blues and soul artist. Nightingale passed away in 1997, leaving behind a rich catalog of soulful recordings that capture the spirit of Memphis music.
