Omar Rodríguez is a prolific rock guitarist and composer, best known as the co-founder and the creative force behind the influential progressive rock band The Mars Volta, and for his involvement with the post-hardcore group At the Drive-In. Born on September 1, 1975, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Rodríguez moved to El Paso, Texas, as a child and started his journey in music in his teenage years, forming At the Drive-In in 1994. After the band's hiatus in 2001, he proceeded to co-found The Mars Volta with fellow At the Drive-In member Cedric Bixler-Zavala, where he was known for his experimental guitar work and production.
Throughout his career, Rodríguez has been prolific, with a penchant for genre-hopping and a dedication to his craft which has left an indelible mark on the rock and alternative music scenes.
