Yiddish Glory

Yiddish Glory is a remarkable music project that brings to life previously lost Yiddish songs created during World War II by Jewish Soviet soldiers, refugees, and victims of the Holocaust. The project was spearheaded by historian Anna Shternshis and musician Psoy Korolenko, and features performances by a talented group of artists including vocalist Sophie Milman. The songs, originally collected by ethnomusicologists in the Soviet Union, were forgotten for decades until rediscovered in the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine.

With modern arrangements and heartfelt performances, Yiddish Glory revives these urgent, powerful wartime songs that speak to resilience, loss, hope, and resistance. The project gained international attention with its 2018 album "The Lost Songs of World War II," which was even nominated for a Grammy. Yiddish Glory stands out as both a musical and historical achievement, connecting modern audiences with voices from one of history’s darkest times.
