Nick Photinos is a highly acclaimed cellist known for his dynamic and versatile artistry, as well as his strong advocacy for contemporary music. He is a four-time Grammy Award winner and was the founding cellist and co-Artistic Director of the groundbreaking contemporary music group Eighth Blackbird, with whom he performed over 1,000 concerts and premiered hundreds of new works, including Steve Reich's Pulitzer Prize-winning *Double Sextet*. Photinos has collaborated with a wide range of artists across genres such as Björk, Wilco, Philip Glass, and jazz musicians like Sheila Jordan, showcasing his impressive adaptability.
Beyond performance, Photinos is deeply involved in music education and currently holds the position of Professor of Chamber Music and Eminent Scholar at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. He has also taught at prestigious institutions such as Northwestern University, the University of Michigan, and the Longy School of Music. His solo debut album *Petits Artéfacts* features pioneering works from leading composers in contemporary music and underscores his commitment to new musical voices.
