Robin Hayward is a British microtonal tuba player and composer known for pushing the boundaries of experimental music. Based in Berlin, he’s a key figure in the avant-garde scene, blending acoustic exploration with just intonation systems (a tuning method using pure intervals). His work often feels like a sci-fi soundscape—think deep, resonant drones and otherworldly harmonics. As part of the trio Microtub, he uses custom-tuned tubas to create immersive, slow-shifting textures, showcased in releases like *Star System* and *Bite of the Orange*. Beyond performing, Hayward developed the "Hayward Tuning Vine," a visual tool for microtonal composition, and collaborates with artists across genres, from free improvisation to contemporary classical.
