Reel 2 Real

Reel 2 Real was an American electronic and reggae-influenced duo that achieved considerable fame in the 1990s. The group was formed by producer and DJ Erick Morillo, hailing from New Jersey, with rapper Mark Quashie, better known by his stage name The Mad Stuntman, born in Trinidad and Tobago. Reel 2 Real is best known for their 1993 hit "I Like to Move It," which became indelibly associated with the dance music scene of the era and later found renewed popularity through its inclusion in the "Madagascar" animated film series.

Their music was a blend of then-emerging house rhythms and reggae vocal stylings, creating an energetic sound that resonated on dance floors around the world. Following the explosive success of "I Like to Move It," Reel 2 Real continued to release a string of singles and albums, including "Go On Move" and "Are You Ready For Some More?" which sustained their presence in the club scene. Although their subsequent releases did not achieve the dizzying heights of their seminal track, Reel 2 Real remained a notable act in the dance music genre throughout their career. Erick Morillo's continued contributions to the house music scene until his untimely passing in 2020 served as a reminder of the duo's impact on electronic music.
