Max Graef is a Berlin-based producer and DJ known for his eclectic, genre-blending approach to electronic music. He first gained attention in the early 2010s with releases on labels like Box Aus Holz and Money $ex Records, which he co-founded. Graef’s sound is rooted in house and hip-hop but often incorporates elements of jazz, funk, and lo-fi textures, resulting in a warm, dusty aesthetic that sets him apart from more polished electronic acts.
In 2014, Graef released his debut album, Rivers of the Red Planet, on the acclaimed UK label Tartelet Records—a psychedelic journey through broken beats, jazzy samples, and analog synths that showcased his distinctive production style. He has also collaborated with other forward-thinking artists like Glenn Astro, with whom he released the collaborative album The Yard Work Simulator in 2016. Whether he’s producing solo or as part of the experimental funk project Ratgrave, Max Graef continues to push boundaries with his playful and genre-defying sound.
