Bernhard Paumgartner was an Austrian conductor, composer, and musicologist who lived from 1887 to 1971. He was a prominent figure in the musical life of Salzburg, where he served as the director of the Mozarteum Orchestra and the Salzburg Festival. Paumgartner was a champion of Mozart's music and was known for his insightful interpretations of the composer's works. He also composed a number of his own works, including operas, symphonies, and chamber music.
