Mano Lima, whose real name is Mario Rubens Battanoli de Lima, is a Brazilian singer and accordionist known for his nativist music. Born on August 26, 1953, in Maçambará, Rio Grande do Sul, he's made a name for himself in the Brazilian music scene with his irreverent style and use of rustic language typical of gauchos from the interior.
Lima's career kicked off in 1986, and he's been active ever since, releasing numerous albums over the decades. He's affectionately known as the "Philosopher of the Pampas" due to his compositions that celebrate and defend Rio Grande do Sul. His music typically features the button accordion as the main instrument, which he plays himself.
