Bahamas

Bahamas is the stage name of Afie Jurvanen, a Finnish-Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist known for his smooth, melodic sound that seamlessly blends elements of folk, rock, and soul. Born on April 28, 1981, in Toronto, Ontario, Jurvanen began his career as a barroom musician before stepping into the role of sideman for larger acts such as Feist, Jason Collett, and Pascale Picard. In 2009, he debuted his solo project with the album "Pink Strat," earning a nomination for a Juno Award and establishing his warm, intimate approach to songwriting and performance.

Over the years, Bahamas has crafted a distinctive musical identity that is both reflective and easy-going, marked by Jurvanen's laid-back vocal style and deft guitar playing. With the release of subsequent albums such as "Barchords," "Bahamas is Afie," "Earthtones," and "Sad Hunk," he has garnered critical acclaim and built a dedicated fan base. His albums have also earned him multiple Juno Awards, further cementing his reputation within the Canadian music scene. Notably, his fifth album, "Sad Hunk," offered a candid look at the complexities of masculinity wrapped up in his signature stripped-down, soulful sound. His project "Live To Tape" showcases the intimate energy of his live performances, with the "Volume I" and "Volume II" installments serving as a testament to his ability to connect with audiences through genuine musical expression. With "BOOTCUT," Bahamas continues to charm listeners with his heartfelt songcraft and understated artistry.
