Tystion was a Welsh punk/hip-hop outfit known for their fiery political commentary and genre-blending sound that mashed up punk energy with electronic beats and rap flows—all delivered primarily in the Welsh language. Emerging from the 1990s Welsh anarcho-punk scene, the band (whose name translates to "Witnesses") tackled anti-capitalist, anti-establishment, and Welsh cultural themes with biting wit, as heard on tracks like "Hen Gelwydd Prydain Newydd (New Britain’s Old Lies)" and "Shrug Off Ya Complex." Their DIY ethos and collaborations with fellow Welsh acts like Datblygu cemented their status as cult figures in Wales’ underground music scene. Though they disbanded in the early 2000s, Tystion’s fearless fusion of language, politics, and punk experimentation left a lasting mark on Welsh counterculture.
