Erick Morillo was an influential Colombian-American DJ, music producer, and record label owner, acclaimed for leaving an indelible mark on the international house music scene. Born on March 26, 1971, in New York and raised partly in Cartagena, Colombia, Morillo returned to the United States to pursue his passion for music, eventually attending the Center for the Media Arts in New York City. He became a well-known figure in the house music world in the 1990s, most notably for his work as a member of Reel 2 Real, producing the hit "I Like to Move It," which gained global recognition and became an anthem in dance clubs worldwide.

Morillo's career extended far beyond a one-hit-wonder, with his name attached to a wide range of productions, remixes, and collaborations that continually topped the club charts. He founded Subliminal Records in 1997, which became a celebrated platform for house music, known for its soulful and groovy beats.
