A Perfect Circle is an American rock supergroup formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan. The band's inception occurred after Keenan, impressed by Howerdel's music, suggested they form a band together using Howerdel's compositions. A Perfect Circle's music is characterized by an amalgamation of alternative rock, progressive rock, and art rock, with elements of ambient music and hard rock, leading them to gain a unique standing within the rock music panorama.

The band's debut album, "Mer de Noms," was released in 2000 to critical acclaim, followed by their second album, "Thirteenth Step" in 2003.
