Valentin Bibik

Valentin Bibik was a Ukrainian composer (1942–2003) known for his richly expressive chamber works and symphonies. Born in Kharkiv, he studied at the Leningrad Conservatory under Boris Arapov, blending modernist techniques with a deep emotional resonance that made his music both challenging and accessible. His catalog includes operas, symphonies, and a standout collection of sonatas for violin, viola, and piano—showcased in recent releases like *Complete Sonatas for Violin & Piano* and *Viola Sonatas*. Bibik also taught at the Odessa and Saint Petersburg conservatories, nurturing generations of musicians. After the Soviet era, his works gained wider international recognition, celebrated for their intricate craftsmanship and haunting beauty. Whether in the restless energy of his violin sonatas or the introspective layers of his orchestral pieces, Bibik’s music remains a bridge between tradition and innovation.
