Clara Cernat

Clara Cernat is a renowned Romanian violinist and violist, celebrated for her contributions to the great Romanian violin school. She began her career as a soloist with the Arad Symphony Orchestra in Romania at the age of 15 and has since achieved significant success, winning several international prizes in France, Germany, and Italy. These include first prizes in the J.S. Bach and Città di Andria competitions, as well as the Mozart Special Prize and second prize in the Kloster Schöntal International Competition. Clara Cernat is also recognized for her chamber music performances, particularly as a favorite interpreter of George Enescu's works. She collaborates frequently with her husband, pianist and composer Thierry Huillet, with whom she has formed a highly acclaimed duet, performing and recording extensively across the globe.

Clara Cernat's educational background includes being a disciple of Stefan Gheorghiu at the Bucharest Music Academy, where she excelled in multiple disciplines. She further honed her skills at the Bonn International Music Academy in Germany and the Ecole Supérieure de Violon Tibor Varga in Switzerland. Currently, she is a senior professor at the Toulouse Conservatoire in France and regularly gives masterclasses. Her repertoire spans a wide range of classical and contemporary music, often featuring transcriptions by Thierry Huillet. Clara Cernat's performances have been broadcast on numerous international platforms, solidifying her reputation as a versatile and accomplished musician.
