Elise Båtnes

Elise Båtnes is a renowned Norwegian violinist born on June 24, 1971, in Trondheim. She started playing the violin at the remarkably young age of four and made her debut as a soloist with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra just four years later. By the age of ten, she was already performing as a soloist with the Oslo Philharmonic, marking the beginning of a distinguished career. Elise studied under some of the most respected violin teachers worldwide, including Dorothy DeLay in the U.S. and Ruggiero Ricci in Salzburg. She has performed extensively as a soloist with major orchestras across Europe and the U.S., and since 2006, she has been the leader (concertmaster) of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, a role she initially joined at 19. Elise plays on the historic "Arditi" Stradivarius violin from 1689, on loan from Dextra Musica.

Her career highlights include leadership positions with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the WDR Orchestra in Cologne. Elise’s favorite repertoire features composers like Bruckner, Richard Strauss, Mahler, and Wagner. Apart from her leadership role, she continues to appear as a soloist worldwide, sharing her passion for music and inspiring audiences everywhere she plays.
