Brian Auger's Oblivion Express was a pioneering jazz-rock fusion band formed in 1970 by British keyboardist Brian Auger. The group emerged after Auger's previous project, Trinity, disbanded. Oblivion Express became known for their innovative blend of jazz, rock, and funk elements, with Auger's virtuosic Hammond organ playing at the forefront.
The band released several influential albums in the early to mid-1970s, including their self-titled debut "Brian Auger's Oblivion Express" (1970), "A Better Land" (1971), "Second Wind" (1972), "Closer to It!" (1973), "Straight Ahead" (1974), and "Reinforcements" (1975). These records showcased the group's evolving sound, incorporating various styles from jazz and R&B to rock and world music influences. Oblivion Express featured talented musicians like drummers Robbie McIntosh and Steve Ferrone, as well as guitarist Jim Mullen, who later found success with the Average White Band.
