Brand X

Brand X is an influential British jazz fusion band known for its complex instrumentals and experimental approach to music. The group was originally formed in 1975 by percussionist Phil Collins (of Genesis fame, during a period away from his main group), keyboardist Robin Lumley, bassist Percy Jones, guitarist John Goodsall, and various guest drummers.

Brand X quickly distinguished themselves within the burgeoning jazz fusion scene with their virtuosic musicianship and eclectic soundscapes that drew from rock, jazz, and world music influences. Although their lineup has undergone several changes over the years, with Collins departing early in their trajectory to focus on Genesis and his solo career, they've maintained their standing as pioneers within their genre. Notable recent releases include a series of live recordings showcasing their dynamic performance capabilities, such as "Live From Chicago: The Official Bootleg Series Vol. X" and "Live From Ronnie Scotts: The Bootleg Series Vol. X," as well as studio albums that showcase their ongoing evolutions, such as "Is There Anything About?" and the ambitious "Manifest Destiny" trilogy. Brand X's creative output, often characterized by intricate and sophisticated arrangements, continues to inspire new generations of musicians and fans alike.
