Rob Koral

Rob Koral is a self-taught British jazz and blues guitarist known for his inventive and boundary-pushing playing style. He first gained recognition with the band SKETCH, featuring vocalist Sue Hawker, and has since played on over 30 albums with notable musicians including Jeremy Stacey and Django Bates. Rob is a founding member of the acclaimed Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion, a band that blends blues, jazz, rock, and psychedelic elements, showcasing his talent for complex harmonies and rhythmic variety. He has also released solo work such as the album *Sleeping With Angels* (2004) and more recent trio work like *Wild Hearts*, which highlights his diverse influences, from blues shuffles to jazz fusion.

Alongside vocalist Zoe Schwarz, Rob Koral has co-created numerous original songs that have been praised for their skillful songwriting and dynamic arrangements. Their most recent studio album *Colourful House* (2025) demonstrates their long-standing musical partnership of over 20 years and features a mix of blues, funk, pop, and rock sounds with contributions from top musicians on Hammond organ, drums, and horns. Rob’s guitar work is noted for being far from typical blues guitar clichés, characterized by inventive improvisation and a refusal to be boxed into a single genre.
