Cristiano Alves
Cristiano Alves is a highly regarded Brazilian clarinetist, born in Rio de Janeiro and shaped by the teachings of José Carlos de Castro. His career highlights include serving as first clarinet soloist in the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra for over 15 years and currently with the Petrobras Symphonic Orchestra. In addition to his orchestral roles, Alves is also an active educator, teaching clarinet at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and regularly leads masterclasses at major Brazilian music festivals like the Mostra Internacional de Música em Olinda and the Festival de Campos do Jordão.
With a discography that marries classical and Brazilian traditions, Cristiano Alves has released albums such as "Marcas D'Água" (with pianist Tamara Ujakova), as well as other recent works focused on concertos and chamber music for clarinet. His performances and recordings reflect a deep commitment to both the classical repertoire and Brazilian musical heritage, making him a prominent figure in South American classical music circles.
