Quill was a rock band formed in Boston in 1967 by brothers Jon and Dan Cole. The group's lineup included keyboardist Phil Thayer, drummer Roger North, and guitarist Norm Rogers. They gained local popularity in the Boston music scene, often opening for major acts like The Who and Janis Joplin. Quill's big break came when they were signed to perform at the Woodstock festival in 1969, one of only three acts without a released album at the time.
Following Woodstock, Quill signed with Atlantic Records' Cotillion label and released their self-titled debut album in 1970. However, the album was not commercially successful, leading to tensions within the band. Despite recording material for a second album, it was never released by their label, and Quill disbanded shortly after in the early 1970s.
